Microwave Antenna connectors & Tesing Waveguides

Course Length: 1 Day

Prerequisites:

NONE. The course is designed to provide employees with tools for understanding and maintaining digital radio.

Course Objectives:

This class is designed to teach the fundamentals of waveguides in radio transmission systems. The class begins with a discussion of when and where waveguides are used and the difference between waveguides and regular coaxial antenna systems. The course will include a discussion of Traverse electric and Traverse magnetic modes of propagation. The course will then focus on making good connections to waveguides and hands-on exercises designed to have students make waveguide connections. If sweep test equipment is available, testing will be covered in depth. If equipment is not available, the course will give an overview of antenna line sweep testing of waveguides and how to tune these devices. The class will include hands-on exercises and evaluation of student performance.
